Emily Burgess PT, DPT

Hello! When I was in high school, I learned about pediatric physical therapy and I never looked back. I received my Bachelor's in Science in Exercise Science from Seattle Pacific University and then went on to receive my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University.

I have experience in outpatient pediatrics and adult orthopedics. It is an honor to work with each of my patients and their families. I am a big believer in celebrating all accomplishments, even the smallest ones. I strive to connect with each patient and their family to make therapy individualized and focused on meaningful goals while making sure to incorporate fun and play into each session.

I am excited to offer pediatric pelvic physical therapy at First Step! I noticed quickly once I started practicing that many of my patient's were struggling with constipation, withholding, urinary incontinence and more. This sparked my interest in this very specialized area of pediatric therapy. I am privileged to help my patients struggling with bowel and bladder dysfunction. I am also trained in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) as an Introductory Level B therapist and Task Specific Electrical Stimulation (TASES). DMI and TASES offer additional ways to help your child progress to their goals.

I spend my free time catching up with friends, going horseback riding, and baking. I love coffee and dogs! I enjoy knitting and rollerblading.
